Ongoing Observational Trials
SEAR
Acute stress can affect how we think, make decisions, and adapt to changing situational demands. One important skill - cognitive flexibility - helps us shift between different ways of thinking and problem-solving. This ability is essential for everyday life, yet we still have much to learn about how acute stress impacts it.
In this study, we will explore how a short, real-world stress experience influences different aspects of cognitive flexibility. Participants will complete a series of computer- and conversation-based activities before and after a brief stress task. Throughout the session, we will collect biological, physiological, and self-report measures to understand how the body and mind respond to these experiences.
We will also collect samples such as saliva, hair, and blood to measure biomarkers and hormone levels. Participants will return one week later for a short follow-up session to see if any effects last over time.
